FESTIVE CHRISTMAS TREE SCRUBBY CROCHET PATTERN
PATTERN: festive Christmas Tree Scrubby crochet Pattern
All About the Yarn…
I used three yarns (green, white & various colors for ornaments) – specialty yarn.
Materials & Notions
Suggested Yarn: I used Red Heart Scrubby Sparkle in white & green. For the ornaments on the tree, I used a mix of sparkle scrubby and basic Red Heart Scrubby yarns.
Estimated Yardage:
Color A (Green): Less than a few yards.
Color B (White): Scraps!
- Hook Size: 6 mm (USA J)
- Scissors
- Darning Needle
Sizes / Finished Measurements:
One Size = 5.5″ (14 cm) × 8″ (20.3 cm)
Abbreviations
- hdc = half double crochet
- hdc3tog = half double crochet 2 together
- hdc2tog = half double crochet 2 together
- ch (s) – chain (s)
- st (s) – stitch(es)
- yo – yarn over
Stitch guide:
Hdc = Half Double Crochet: Yo, insert hook in indicated stitch. Yo and pull up a loop. Yo and draw through all three loops on the hook.
Hdc2tog – Half Double Crochet 2 Together = Yo, insert your hook in indicated stitch, pull up a loop. Yo, insert hook in next stitch, pull up a loop. Yo, pull through all the loops on the hook.
Hdc3tog – Half Double Crochet 3 Together = Yo, insert your hook in indicated stitch, pull up a loop. (Yo, insert hook in next stitch, pull up a loop) 2 times. Yo, pull through all the loops on the hook.

Notes:
- Pattern is in back and forth rows.
- Beginners: Mark the first and last stitch of rows (hdc stitches can get lost easily).
- Ch 1, turn after each row.
Row 1: Ch 17. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and across – 15 hdc. (or fhdc 15)
Row 2: Hdc in each stitch across – 15 hdc.
Row 3: Hdc2tog, hdc in next 11 sts, hdc2tog – 13 hdc.
Row 4: Hdc in each stitch across – 13 Hdc.
Row 5: Hdc2tog, hdc in next 9 sts, hdc2tog – 11 hdc.
Row 6: Hdc in each stitch across – 11 Hdc.
Row 7: Hdc2tog, hdc in next 7 sts, hdc2tog – 9 hdc.
Row 8: Hdc in each stitch across – 9 Hdc.
Row 9: Hdc2tog, hdc in next 5 sts, hdc2tog – 7 hdc.
Row 10: Hdc in each stitch across – 7 Hdc.
Row 11: Hdc2tog, hdc in next 3 sts, hdc2tog – 5 hdc.
Row 12: Hdc in each stitch across – 5 Hdc.
Row 13: Hdc2tog, hdc in next st, hdc2tog – 3 hdc.
Row 14: Hdc in each stitch across – 3 Hdc.
Row 15: Hdc3tog – 1 hdc.
Tie off cut leaving a long tail
Stem of Tree:
Turn over so the bottom is facing up. Attach yarn in 7th stitch from right (or left).
Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in the same as join. Hdc in next 2 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, Hdc in all three stitches.
Cut, tie off and weave in tails.
Border:
With the stem facing up, use white, attach yarn in the inside corner or leftmost stem.
Ch 1, hdc is the same as join. Hdc in each stitch / row around the entire tree.
For corners, hdc 3 in each corner.
For Topmost tip of tree, hdc 1, ch 1, hdc 1.
Creating the Ornaments:
Using colored Scrubby yarn, or 100% cotton, create little lights or create a cute garland – see the video for help on this. Full Video Tutorial
