Farmhouse Mini Bauble Crochet Christmas Ornament

PATTERN: FARMHOUSE MINI BAUBLE CROCHET CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT PATTERN

All About the Yarn…

I used Impeccable Tweed Taupe – you can use scraps too, it’s a simple pattern. Use a 4 weight for a larger ornament.

Materials & Notions

Suggested Yarn:  I used 4-weight yarn (Impeccable Tweed in Taupe)

Estimated Yardage:

Sizes / Finished Measurements:

2” X 2” (5 cm x 5 cm)

Abbreviations

  • ch(s) – chain(s)
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • yo – yarn over
  • puff – puff stitch
  • puff-dec – puff decrease
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sp – space

Stitch guide :

puff st (puff stitch): (yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull up a loop) × 2 times — you’ll have 5 loops — yarn over and pull through 4 loops, yo, pull through 2 loops)

sl st (slip stitch): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, and pull through both the stitch and the loop on your hook. Used to join rounds or create a smooth edge.

puff decrease:  Yo, insert hook in stitch, yo and pull up a loop, (yo, insert hook in next stitch, yo and pull up a loop) 2 times, yo, pull through 6 loops on hook, yo pull through 2 loops (1 puff decrease complete)

PATTERN: FARMHOUSE MINI BAUBLE

Notes:

  • Joins are made with slip stitch in 1st stitch of round, unless otherwise noted.

Hook Size: 4 mm (USA G)

Round 1: Magic circle or ch 2 and work into the first ch. (Puff 1, Ch 1) x 6 into magic circle. Join in top of 1st st (6 puffs, 6 chs.)

Round 2: Ch 2. Puff 2 is the same as join. Ch 1. *Puff 2 in the next ch-1 space, ch 1. Repeat from * around.  Join in the top of the 1st stitch (14 puff sts.)

Round 3: Ch 2. Puff in each puff from Round 2, around. Join in the top of the 1st stitch (14 puff sts.)

Note: In this round we are going to do puff decreases.

  • To do a puff decrease, yo, insert hook in stitch, yo and pull up a loop, (yo, insert hook in next stitch, yo and pull up a loop) 2 times, yo, pull through 6 loops on hook, yo pull through 2 loops (1 puff decrease complete)

Round 4: Ch 2. Puff-dec around. Join in the top of the 1st stitch, leave a long tail to cinch and loop. (7 puff sts)

You can stuff it, or leave it open and fill it with potpourri.

Use some ribbon or raffia to give it that christmas feel or rustic vibes!

Congrats!  You are finished!
