Stitch guide ✨:
sc (single crochet): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over again, and pull through both loops on the hook.
(Worked in the back loop only unless otherwise noted.)
dc (double crochet): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over again, and pull through the last two loops. (Worked in the front loop only for this pattern.)
spike Stitch: Insert hook into the stitch below indicated stitch, yarn over, pull up a long loop to the height of the current round, complete a sc.
zipper Stitch Join: With both panels held wrong sides together, alternate pulling a loop through matching stitches from front and back panels to create a flat decorative seam.
stdc (stacked double crochet): Work one single crochet, then insert your hook into the left vertical bar of that same single crochet, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over again and pull through both loops. This replaces a turning chain and counts as one dc.
FPdc (front post double crochet): Yarn over, insert hook from front to back to front around the post of the stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over again and pull through the last two loops.
FLOdc (front loop only double crochet): Work a dc into the front loop only of the stitch indicated (the loop closest to you).
dc2cl (double crochet 2-cluster): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops (leaving 2 loops on hook). Yarn over, insert hook into same stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
dc3cl (double crochet 3-cluster):
Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops (leaving 2 loops on hook). Repeat this process twice more (4 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.
sl st (slip stitch): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, and pull through both the stitch and the loop on your hook. Used to join rounds or create a smooth edge.
sc dec (single crochet decrease): Insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop. Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all loops on hook.

Assembly 🪡 :
Once both panels are complete, it’s time to join them together using a zipper stitch.
- Align the pieces: Place both panels with wrong sides together so the right sides face outward.
- Secure your working loop: Remove your hook from the loop and place a stitch marker in it to keep it from unraveling. Set your yarn aside.
- Mark your joins: Place a stitch marker in the FLOdc to the right and left of the join on the front panel.
- Attach yarn: In the left stitch marker, join Color A (C1) through both panels and ch 1 to secure.
- Start the zipper stitch:
- Insert your hook into the next stitch on the front panel, yarn over, and pull up a loop.
- Remove the hook from the loop and insert it through the matching stitch on the back panel (from outside to inside).
- Place the loop back on your hook and pull it through the back stitch.
- Continue joining: Repeat Step 5 around the ornament until you’ve closed nearly all the way.
- Stuff: Before closing the final few stitches, add polyfill or yarn scraps to your desired fullness.
- Finish: Reinsert your hook into the working loop and continue the zipper stitch until closed. Do not tie off yet — continue to the next section to finish the top of the bauble.
Top of Bauble
Ch 1, sc in each stitch around, do not join. Work continuously in the round for two more rounds, then sc dec until the hole closes. Pull up a loop to form a hanging chain if desired, then weave in the tail.
