Fair Isle CAL| Week 2 |Part 4 |Continue Rows 3-12| Crochet along

Welcome to the Fair Isle CAL Week 2 – Part 4! Thanks for joining and here is where we are so far. If you’ve landed here and want to catch up, see the Introduction, then Part 1, and Part 2. In Part 3, we started working the pattern and learned how to do a foundation single crochet (fsc) starting round, we worked the knit stitch again, learned how to properly hold your yarn for knit stitch, and went over changing colors again.

Hope everyone has a great time learning together, and please subscribe to my Stargazers mailing list here to get notified when the new posts and videos go LIVE!

This weeks video is shorter, and covers a few techniques on floating the yarn. I wanted to keep it simple this week and leave everyone some time to catch up because I know we have a lot of new members thanks to the post in My Hobby Is Crochet on Facebook.

I am so grateful you are all here and hope you are enjoying the crochet along ๐Ÿ˜.

Please feel free to ask me questions about it, if there is something you are stuck on or having trouble with, I’m glad to help. You can message me via e-mail to: stardustgoldcrochet@gmail.com, or join my Facebook friends group (link in the blue box below). I am always happy to answer questions and talk crochet! ๐Ÿงถ

For pattern support, please head over to Facebook and join my pattern support group, Stardust Gold Crochet and Friends.

note: If you want to skip forward, youโ€™re welcome to purchase the pattern on Ravelry or Etsy, (use code FAIRISLECAL for a 40% discount on the PDF)  but I will be posting the entire pattern in pieces here over the next 4 weeks, and at the end, I will create a full post with the full written pattern and graphics all in one post.   My hope is that you will keep updated with the posts, and we can all work together here in the CAL.

If you are landing here and want to start from the beginning, please visit the CAL page below where you will find all posts related to this CAL.

๐Ÿ’Œ Let’s Crochet!

The video at the bottom of the post will go over the following:

  • Tips on Floating the yarn

I will write everything out here that is featured in the video.

๐Ÿ”ต Floating the Yarn Techniques

As we continue to work rows 3 – 12, you will definitely benefit from watching the video on floating techniques. I will go over them here as well.

For those that want to skip ahead, I am posting rows 13 – 23 today instead of next week, but please do not feel rushed, take your time with it. It can be a frustrating stitch to learn!

๐Ÿงถ Remember to keep your chosen colors separated while you hold them throughout the pattern – MC on top, CC on bottom.

๐Ÿงถ You may switch the way you hold your colors throughout the pattern depending on what the primary color of the round is. For instance, if your round consists mostly of the MC, with fewer CC, then hold your MC on top and CC on bottom. If the round consists mostly of the CC and a few MC throughout, then hold your CC on top. You will get the hang of this, and start to realize why its important to keep them separate – especially – after you have to untangle your yarn ๐Ÿคฃ.

๐Ÿงถ If you have a more than 5 blocks (stitches) of one color, make sure to enclose the 3rd stitch of the opposite color instead of floating it, so you don’t get long snags (see video for help on this)

Next Sunday we will begin week 3…

  • Sunday, October 6 – Rows 13 – 23 (I’ve posted rows 13 – 23 today, however, keep working rows 3 – 12 this week, and if you want to skip ahead, those rows are already there for you)
  • Friday, October 11 – I will post Rows 24 – 34.
  • Post photos! I’d love to see your work so far! You can post photos in my group on Facebook here.
