Rustic Star Charm Crochet Ornament

PATTERN: RUSTIC STAR CHARM CROCHET ORNAMENT PATTERN

All About the Yarn…

I used Impeccable Tweed Taupe – you can use scraps too, it’s a simple pattern. Use a 4 weight for a larger ornament.

Materials & Notions 🧶

Suggested Yarn:  I used 4-weight yarn (Impeccable Tweed in Taupe, Cream, Gold)

Estimated Yardage:

• Hook Size: 5.5 mm (USA I)
• Scissors
• Darning Needle
• Raffia (optional)
• Polyfill or yarn scraps

Sizes / Finished Measurements:

2” X 2” (5 cm x 5 cm)

Abbreviations 🪡

• ch(s) – chain(s)
• st(s) – stitch(es)
• yo – yarn over
• puff – puff stitch
• sl st – slip stitch
• sp – space
• stdc – stacked double crochet

Stitch guide ✨:

puff st (puff stitch): (yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull up a loop) × 2 times you’ll have 5 loops, yarn over and pull through 4 loops, yo, pull through 2 loops)

sl st (slip stitch): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, and pull through both the stitch and the loop on your hook. Used to join rounds or create a smooth edge.

Stacked Double Crochet (stdc): Work one single crochet, then insert your hook into the left vertical bar of that stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over again, and pull through both loops. Counts as one double crochet.  

PATTERN: RUSTIC STAR  🌟 CHARM MINI BAUBLE

Make a magic ring (or ch 4 and join with sl st to form a ring).

Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch) (puff st, ch 2) × 5 times – 5 puffs, 5 ch 2.

Pull the ring tight and join with sl st to top of the first puff st.

(You now have a small star-like circle.)

Round 2:  (Each point is worked into a ch-2 space) *Sl st into next ch-2 space, stdc 1, puff st, ch 3, sl st in the same space. Repeat around in each ch-2 space, 5 star points total. Join with sl st to first sl st.

Finishing

• Fasten off and weave in ends.
• Bring needle up to the point of the star and crest a loop.
• Bring needle back down and weave in, cut yarn.
• Block lightly if you want sharp points.

Optional Variations ✨: 

• Two-tone star: Use one color for the puff center and another for the points.
• Hanging ornament: After the last round, ch 12 and sl st to the same st for a loop.
• Bigger star: Size up hook or yarn to bulky and get a BIG STAR!
