Design Inspiration
This Crochet Cake square is very special to me! My grandmother, who taught me to crochet, well…it’s her birthday today! She loved cherry cake, and every year she would have a cherry cake on her birthday.
The tradition was passed down to my brother, but I’m not a big fan of maraschino cherries. I LOVE fresh cherries though.
At first, I was going to use red for the “sprinkles” on this one, but instead went with colored sprinkles. If you want to make it a true cherry cake, I’d love to see some bright reds in there.
Happy Birthday in heaven grandma.
Meet my grandma, Margaret Alice Reynolds b. 1913 d. 2003 at 93! She was so much fun and a bundle of 5’1″ spitfire.

What is C2C?
C2C means corner-to-corner. You are working each square from the bottom right size diagonally to the top left side. If you are not familiar with C2C, please refer to my post called C2C Basics to get familiar with this fun crochet technique.
C2C is great because you can use a graph to create some amazing patterns with wonderful color-work! Learn how to read a crochet graph here.
