The Spirit of Easter Crochet Patterns 🌷

Even if you are not a religious person, Easter is a time of family get togethers, and children’s joy in searching for easter eggs, and we all enjoy the gift of giving.

And even if you’re single, alone, don’t have children, or all your friends have passed on – make them for yourself or gift them to children in need. It will brighten up their day.

My Favorites Crochet Easter Egg Patterns!

I decided to crochet up a few of my favorite patterns in this bunch (pictured below). I fell in LOVE with the little egg that looks like faberge’ eggs. Then I decided to crochet up the absolute basic eggs too.

For these I used various colors of Merino Soft yarn by Scheepjes. I just love Scheepjes colors. They are so beautiful.

Easy Crochet Pattern Instructions 🌸

These patterns range from beginner to a little more advanced, but don’t worry, they are all clear instructions and use basic stitches like single crochet, slip stitch, and double crochet.

5 Tips for Crocheting Easter Eggs 🥚

  1. Choose Your Materials Wisely: Opt for a smooth, mercerized cotton yarn in bright Easter colors. Meccanized cotton provides a tidy appearance and showcases intricate stitches more effectively.
  2. Adjust Hook Size: It may help to use a smaller hook size than the yarn recommends. A smaller hook creates a tighter stitch fabric, preventing stuffing from showing through and gives your eggs a firmer shape.
  3. Stuffing Strategies: Use those old yarn scraps – you know the ones that you cut off after weaving in those pesky tails. You can also use polyfill, but we are trying to be eco-friendly here, right? Recycling stuffing from old pillows, or those found in thrift stores works great too.
  4. Creative Stuffing: Alternatively, for a fun sensory experience, experiment with dried beans, or dried lentils inside a mesh bag or stocking before inserting into the crocheted egg.
  5. Clever Closures: Instead of simply sewing the egg closed, consider weaving a ribbon through the top. This allows you to open and refill the egg with different treats each year.
