Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone! This is a simple St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow Shamrock Key Chain Stash-buster to help ease the boredom and a great project to work with the kids!

I’ll be posting quite a few patterns to help everyone get through it. So keep an eye out.
A little bit about the yarn…
I used Yarn Bee Soft Secret, which was in my stash. Definitely use any 3 or 4 weight yarn you have laying around in your stash for this simple crochet project!

Suggested Yarn & Yardage Needed:
Yarn Bee Soft Secret – 6 oz / 170 g 200 yards/275 meters 100% Acrylic or any 3 or 4 weight scrap yarn – great for a stash-buster! Yardage is very little, less than a yarn of each color.
Color A: Red | Color B: Hot Orange | Color C: Saffron | Color D: Butter | Color E: Lime | Color F: Aqua | Color G: French Lilac
Hook Size: US Size G (4 or 4.5 mm) crochet hook
Scissors
Darning Needle
Key Ring
Tails for stuffing or a tiny bit of polyfill

sc – single crochet
insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a loop, yo draw through both loops on hook.
dc – double crochet
yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a loop, *yo, draw through 2 loops* – repeat from * to * until you have one loop left on the hook.
yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through all three loops on hook.
tr – treble crochet
yo twice, insert hook in indicated st. yo, draw up a loop, *yo, draw through 2 loops* repeat from * to * 3 times.
+ Pattern Notes – Please Read
- Rainbow is worked in rows.
- Shamrock is worked in one round.
- Pieces are sewn together and stuffed.
- 1st st of each row/round is made in the same as t-ch.
- Cut yarn after each row.

St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow Shamrock Key Chain

+ Pattern:
Rainbow
Make 2
Starting with Color G (purple), Ch 4
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next, change to Color F (blue) – 4 sc
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, (2 sc in next st) two times, sc in last st, change to Color E (green) – 6 sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last st, change to Color D (yellow) – 8 sc.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 sts, 2 sc in each of next 4 sts, sc in each of last two sts, change to Color C (dark yellow) – 12 sc.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc in each of next 10 sts, 2 sc in last st, change to Color B (orange) – 14 sc.
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in each of next two sts, sc in each of next 6 sts, change to Color A (red) – 16 sc.
Row 7: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts, sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in last st – 20 sc.
leave a long tail for sewing the two pieces together, weave in all other tails.
Shamrock ☘️
Make 2
4 mm hook
Magic circle, Ch 4
In magic circle, *tr 2, hdc 1, tr 3, sl st 1** ch 4, repeat from * two more times ending rep at **, ch 5 for the stem.
Pull magic circle closed tight and weave in all tails.
Finishing & Assembly:
Rainbow:
Place pieces together with WS facing each other. Sew together along with the red, stuff with scraps of yarn from tails or polyfill, then continue sewing up the bottom.
Shamrock:
Place pieces together with WS facing each other. Using a whip stitch, sew through stem first, then along the outer edge.
Sew shamrock to rainbow and attach key ring at the end of the stem of the shamrock.
