Fall always reminds me of fairies, falling leaves, little mushrooms popping up through the fallen leaves and squirrels gathering nuts for the winter. These free crochet mushroom patterns set the mood for crochet by the campfire.
There’s something so charming and whimsical about crocheted mushrooms. They make for great decorations in the home, and can even be used as pins and ornaments. Mushrooms are one of my favorite things to crochet. They’re so cute and they’re so easy to make! In this blog post, I compiled 31 amazing patterns. Although the fairy house isn’t exactly beginner-friendly pattern, it is definitely a great collaborative project to work on with the kids.

Most of these mushroom patterns will use a worsted weight yarn, however, some of the mushroom stuffie patterns will use a super bulky yarn, which you can find at your local yarn store.
I just ordered a bunch for the festival at my grandsons school in December, and I know the large ultra-plush mushroom patterns tend to use bulky velvet yarns by Bernat or Premier. So that’s what I ordered.

To get started crocheting your own mushrooms
You’ll need some basic crocheting supplies, like yarn, a crochet hook, and a tapestry needle. You’ll also need some polyester stuffing and some wire for the stems. Once you have all of your supplies, you’ll be ready to start crocheting!
A couple must have crochet notions for creating amigurumi are safety eyes and a stitch marker. They come in handy while working in the round to mark the first stitch of the round.
